My collection was inspired by punk principles because I personally relate to the diverse array of ideologies, fashion and other forms of expression the punk subculture has to offer. I grew up around gang violence and hatred which had a huge impact on my life. I always tried to see the positive side in every cynical situation and that is what I tried to do with my collection. Modern design that honours the past. My designs consist of a look and feel which touch the segmentation of a male characteristic and can be identified as being boyish but can be worn as a uniform. The range has a rebellious formality to the aesthetic of my designs which I think can be depicted as a distorted reference to punks. The cohesiveness that is illustrated within the range, highlights classic silhouettes and working/decorative elements such as inverted pleats, lapel collars, welt pockets, exposed darts and hand topstitching. Hardware is also a key element in the range because it features metal eyelets, buttons and accessories such as earrings, bracelets, belts as well as rings. The practical suitability of my proposed fabrics consists of wools, faux fur, polyester and cotton which is recycled and deconstructed in order to live and meet the needs of humans as well as other species without compromising the ability of future generations to meet our own needs. Therefore organizing society so that it can exist in the long term. This means taking into account both the imperatives present and those of the future, such as the preservation of the environment and natural resources or social and economic equity.
